SEGA to port more of their past games to PC “in the coming months and years”

Steam
So while Sonic Lost World coming to PC next month is neat, the news did not stop there. SEGA announced what could be considered bigger news in a single paragraph hidden within the press release: that it’s not the only game they’re porting to PC.

“We’re delighted to be able to bring Sonic Lost World to PC.” Said John Clark, VP of Commercial Publishing for SEGA Europe; “This is the latest in a string of high quality PC ports of past SEGA titles that we will be building on in the coming months and years.”

People have been requesting SEGA to port various games to PC including Vanquish, Resonance of Fate and Skies of Arcadia for quite some time now. It sounds like they may have been listening to those requests. Of course they could also be porting Sonic games like Sonic Colours or the underappreciated Sonic Unleashed.
They should really prioritize porting Jet Set Radio Future though.

It’s hard to get excited for their Windows-only ports.

I really, REALLY want a Skies of Arcadia port. That way we can get a definitive version that has all in it, but also because I can no longer play the Dreamcast version with the superior music, as my DC no longer reads discs. If they finally port it to PC, they better use the DC tracks, not the crappy GC ones.
I’m also looking forward to playing the HD version of Lost World at last. Even though it’s a mediocre game by most accounts, I’m still curious as to what it’s like, as I only played the inferior 3DS port since I don’t own a Wii U (and probably never will).
Sonic Unleashed for PC would be really nice too.

Man, I literally just bought a Wii U 2 weeks ago and picked up Sonic Lost World 1 week ago, now in a few weeks I can have it on my far superior PC (providing the port is good). Sheesh.
I’m glad it’s coming to PC, maybe Nintendo only have them as exclusives for the first couple years… maybe we’ll get get the awful Sonic Boom ported to PC with all it’s glitches and bugs still baked in!
I’d like to see Virtua Fighter 5 ported to PC, as well as Shenmue I & II. Surely Shenmue will happen to coincide with the Shenmue III release, Sega would be dumb not to cash in on that franchise with HD re-releases 6 months prior to Shenmue III’s release, that’s what i’m predicting anyway.

So if they do end up porting Sonic Boom, then at least Dario and gang can actually hack it and make it decent! :V Still I’m looking forward to playing Lost World on my PC, I never played the Wii U version even though I had the chance to at Sonic Boom 2013… :V It’d be nice to see Colors make it’s way to Steam as well.

It’s probably too much to expect modders to make a bad game actually any good, outside of making it incredibly silly and dumb like Melpontro did with his Sonic 2006 mods. Making Sonic Boom or Sonic 2006 an actual good game would take a serious amount of work and free time, as it would basically mean redesigning the entire game.

I hope they port those arcade titles the 360 has had forever. I was really psyched to get Sonic the Fighters on pc and try out some wifi fights, and then like 4 years or so passed.

Haha, I wonder how was the reaction of the guys at Nintendo when they found out their better exclusive Sonic title isn’t exclusive anymore XD
I was going to suggest Jet Set Radio Future but TimmiT beat me to it, that game NEEDS a PC port, and while we’re at it why not Shenmue 1 and 2, maybe even Burning Rangers and Banzer Dragoon?

Bring out all Shin Megami Tensei games to PC, lot of people missed out or don’t know anything about these great RPG games.
SMT3: Nocturne, Persona series, Digital Devil Saga, Devil Summoner, etc.

Yes, for god’s sake. SEGA if you are reading this, please port next at least sonic unleashed.

Nah, Jet Set Radio Future should be next :V

Seconded, Jet Set Radio Future needs a PC port, also is it too late to ask for SEGA GAGA? :p
I just remembered Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz for the Wii was a good game that suffered from forced motion controls, I’d purchase a PC port in a second.

If they’re gonna port Super Monkey Ball games to PC, it should be the first two games. Anything past that they may as well ignore.

I like that you referred to Unleashed as underappreciated. It really is. In any case, Lost World is one of my favorite 3D Sonic games, so I freaked out when I saw the news.

    PC port of JSRF?
    ooooohhhh yes please.

    My picks:
Golden Axe Beast Rider, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Colors, Crazy Taxi 3 (I think it’s an xbox exclusive), Shinobi for the 3ds, Nights Journey Into Dreams and Jet Set Radio Future

I have trouble believing that anyone would actually want to play Beast Rider. Also Crazy Taxi 3 had a PC port.

It’d be nice if they release the HD Remasters of Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 to PC. But no that would be a good idea and we know much SEGA hates good ideas…

Just give us Jet Set Radio Future for god sake!

I’ve never even played Jet Set Radio Future, and I concur it should be one of the PC ports. It seems like the obvious choice for Sega.
I would also totally buy PC ports of Sonic Unleashed (especially if Xbox edition) and Sonic Colors. Sonic Lost World…not so much. Didn’t really click with that one, honestly.
I’d also buy a port of Rise of Lyric too, because despite all its flaws, I personally still enjoyed it…but I somehow doubt that would happen, given it’s sad but true rep.

I’m probably the only one thinking this, but I would still like a re-release for Knuckles Chaotix, maybe even one developed by The Taxman & Stealth to ensure bonuses such as an unlockable conventional stage select and/or time attack mode, maybe even an unlockable Tails as a playable character (but not as a glitchy scrambled-up Knuckles sprite with Tails’s color palette.)
I’d also like an actual PC or console digital download release of SegaSonic The Hedgehog w/ online multiplayer.
Newer games too, sure, but I’d like for those two to be overlooked no longer.

…same here. I wish Knuckles Chaotix would be re-released already, especially given how Sega had re-released just about any other game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series… multiple times, in fact.
SegaSonic the Hedgehog would also be nice. Then again, I find odd that Sonic Eraser is yet to be re-released.

If only there were some way to play Chaotix on a PC right now without constantly begging Sega to re-release a terrible game…
