SDCC 2014: Box-art and Release Dates for Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Shattered Crystal Revealed

Rise of Lyric Wii U box  Shattered Crystal 3DS box
We already knew that both Sonic Boom games will be coming out in this November, but now we know when exactly we can expect them to be in stores. In the US Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric will be released on November 18th, while Shattered Crystal will be out a week earlier on November 11th. We don’t know yet when the games will be released in Europe, but this post will be updated when we do.
Along with these dates SEGA released the box covers as well, both of which feature Sonic looking at the customer and doing something potentially threatening. The Wii U box has a Nintendo Network logo on it, meaning the game does have some sort of online functionality.

While an online co-op mode is a nice thought, the Nintendo Network logo is probably just miiverse integration…hope I’m wrong though.

Wii U version is 10+ why?
Eh my thoughts may change but for now the game looks less and less interesting to me, feels more like Ratchet and Clank (or the werehog) gameplay, no thank you, why does Sonic need a beam laser anyway? Seems like another “change for the sake of change” for me, the TV show looks more interesting though, I hope my opinion about the game will change but as for now I’m more interested in Sonic Lost World, looking forward to what Sonic Team got in store for us!

Sometime in October I will be announcing a giveaway for Sonic Boom (similar to the Sonic Lost World giveaway last year, though this time it’ll be before release). Stay tuned for more details. 😀

November 11th is Veteran’s Day for me in Canada, wonder if there will be a different release date.
(November 11th is a day off for veterans day in canada, and many businesses shut down for the daY)

If the 3DS version turns out well and I’m not bogged down with Smash Bros 4 still from October, I might get that. But the Wii U version still looks like crap, putting it lightly.

Still buying both versions, these boxarts are fantastic. I hope they’re bother good, and I honestly can’t understand people who dismiss games as bad and then never play them.

Personally, I’m still very optimistic about at least the Wii U game (wasn’t impressed with the presentation for the 3DS thus far), and find some the changes actually rather refreshing, and am hopeful they’ll work out well in the actual gameplay.

Did anyone noticed that the 3DS box art has an older “E” rating design?
