It’s Wednesday! Let’s Watch Some Classic Sky Sanctuary Footage!

Gamesradar received some hands-on time with Sonic Generations in its near-complete form recently and was nice enough to do a write-up of what they’ve seen so far. Things look promising: the jump height issues have been addressed, running up curves now has some basis in reality, the 3DS version has received a major revamp, and the plot is thankfully non-melodramatic (spoilers in that link, btw.) Additionally, there’s more information on Doppleganger races and optional missions (complete with unlockable content) over at SPoNG.

But really, the main attraction here is seeing Classic Sonic play through Sky Sanctuary Zone. Let’s go! (Sorry no embed, Gamesradar’s JavaScript doesn’t appear to be working.)

Sexy, this game is sexy plain and simple. With all these game play enhancements “purest” fans can eat their words! (Which makes me SO happy!) The extra missions sound juicy! But I’m curious, is this “other Sonic” u race against Modern/Classic Sonic or another Sonic all together??

Yeah. Me, as a purist, am eating my words. And it tastes like heavens. With lots of clouds. With a temple in the middle. And a flying Egg-shaped fortress in the background.

    Needs sonic 3.
And dont bring me with the “sonic 3 and knux is one game” crap.

….they were supposed to be the very same game in development. had to split the game in two due the size…

But yeah, I agree, that’s no reason for they to put only a single level of it.

Agreed. Ice Cap or Carnival Night would have been sexy.

Ditto. Hence my, and others hopes for DLC levels. Heck, I’d even love for some secret unlockable levels that we somehow, someway, don’t know about.

I’m pretty sure Sonic Team won’t disappoint with DLC. Hell, if they’re doing it for Casino Night Zone (even if it is just a mini-game), then I’m sure they’ll do other stages. I’m actually quite interested in seeing Ice Cap Zone with Modern Sonic since I bet they’ll incorporate some Holoska in the stage due to its similarities.

Oh shit. This is going to be fucking awesome. Also, on the SPoNG thing, they mention the Missions have remixes from other games, including Super Sonic Racing. Now I’m hoping it’s the Crush 40 cover, and I’m hoping Crush 40’s cover of Sonic Boom is in there, as well as some Sonic Spinball goodness.

You know, seeing Eggrobo in 3d just makes me want to play as him like in Sonic R…

That said, really cool to see this zone in the mix. =)

Oh yeah, and double post, but holy crap. While I’m not a fan of the inclusion of floating top platforms (my least favorite part of Sonic 3 that isn’t Carnival Night Zone) everything else about that has me psyched! Like, that is the most beautiful thing we saw yet, and the orchestrated version of the theme at the select screen? It has been a long ass time since I could even think this about a Sonic game, but OMG GIMME NOW!

I was hoping for the 3 metal sonic battles….  The one in Sonic & Knuckles was my favorite model.

That’d be completely awesome if it’s in the game. S&K’s Mecha Sonic had a pretty interesting model, and seeing it in something other than sprite-form would be amazing (if it does happen, hopes for a Super Mecha Sonic battle!).
