Today I report on the current state of Sonic Unleashed. A new video was released about a level… Adabat. It’s a pretty shiny looking island area. And, as one astute forumer commented, the flute line on the night song for it appears to reference Rusty Ruins… from Sonic 3D Blast. Unlike the very fast levels we first saw, this one also features a little more platforming action, and it seems to have some new night level enemies.
It’s clear that, if nothing else, the game looks pretty, and the framerate seems fine in this level. It’s just up to Sonic Team to make sure it keeps up the progress so far… until then, we have plenty of nice videos to watch, at least. That, and…

Musician Sebastian Tomczak, best known for his independent chiptune albums, has recently turned his attention towards the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis by creating a MIDI sequencer for the console along with a sound editor to work with. You can find more information and listen to a couple of examples of the sequencer at his blog.

Charles Hamilton likes Sonic the Hedgehog.
No really, the Brooklyn rapper is seriously into the Sonic series. The man released a track called “Where’s My Fucking Genesis”—using Mystic Cave Zone as the backbeat. He drops references to Robotnik in his tracks. Now, that wouldn’t be that impressive, except for the fact that the guy’s freestyling with Kanye West and The Game and was recently signed to Interscope Records.
You can grab the “Outside Looking” mixtape (complete with Sonic on the cover) at http://www.iamnotcharleshamilton.com, or check out his MySpace, with Sonic, Shadow and Amy listed as top friends.

Up C Down C Left C Right C ABC+Start is a Kent instrumental rock band playing lush soundscapes throughout their songs. The band’s name comes from Sonic the Hedgehog’s debug code: Up C Down C Left Right A+Start. I guess no one told them they didn’t have to hit B and C.
Check out their official site and Myspace. The band is playing throughout England this summer, so if you’re a Brit, be sure to give them a listen.
