    * EXE/APP payload
    * Really odd description files inside
    * Not a Dreamcast executable, but an app that claims to be Unity SDK compiled
    * No screenshots on the Tumblr site
Yeah… I’m not going to be the first to run this on my system. At least, not until I set up a VM and cleanroom it.

What no this is obviously legit. All of that is just small stuff that could be part of any Dreamcast proto that was just found.

I did an OS X VM and it looks legit. They appear to have ported the Dreamcast code to Unity to make it run better on a PC.
Interesting R&D work – but I don’t really think Sega was wrong to “bury” it. Really it just underscores how Sega’s strategy of outsourced R&D and development has left them in the state that they are in today.

But the Dreamcast can run Windows games! See that Windows logo on the front of the system?
      Checkmate, noobs.

    Not a fat chance:
    Assembly-CSharp-firstpass.dll
    Assembly-CSharp.dll
    Assembly-UnityScript-firstpass.dll
    Assembly-UnityScript.dll
    Boo.Lang.dll
    Gif2Textures.dll
    Mono.Security.dll
    mscorlib.dll
    System.Core.dll
    System.dll
    UnityEngine.dll
    UnityEngine.UI.dll
    UnityScript.Lang.dll
This is the poorest fake leak I’ve seen in a while.

Jesus Christ, finding Big the Cat in [Spoiler]’s giant [Spoiler] in the Movie game was horrifying.
I couldn’t find a way into the second game, and in the V.R. game the TV went all freaky and gave me a code, not too sure where to use it though.

Try using the code on the password thing on the website.

I really wish more things on this site were presented without TimmiT’s commentary. Like, Noata Oshima’s involvement with Terra Battle, for instance. Wouldn’t it have been nice for one of the most visible and influential Sonic fan sites to *not* dump all over Sonic’s creator, virtually ruining any chance for future interviews with the guy? Yeah, not biting the hand that fed you would have been pretty sweet.

I very much doubt Oshima will be upset for his character that specifically echoes the style of Sonic being called out for being a character that specifically echoes the style of Sonic.
It’s almost like… it was intentional. What a concept.

I’m not sure why you care about us burning bridges, but okay. On reflection that Blinx dig in the article probably was unnecessary. But I’m also pretty sure that Ohshima knew what he was doing there, and I think it would have been wrong to ignore that elephant in the room.
Anyway, this has always been an opinionated site. If we see something that’s obviously bad, then we’re likely not going to ignore that. The same goes for if we see something good. I mean, we’re not going to blindly praise the Sonic Boom games or Sonic Adventure 2 in our reviews and live streams. Same as we won’t hide our praise for Sonic Generations or the Sonic Boom cartoon.

You see, Sonic Boom being good or Sonic Adventure 2 being bad, that’s very objective, personally I really don’t like Sonic Boom as a show, I think it’s a huge step backwards from Sonic X, as for Sonic Adventure 2 to me it’s the best Sonic game ever made, 14 years later and I still think the same way, does this make me a bad person?

        • Reply

I think you mean subjective, not objective. And there’s nothing wrong with having different opinions. :V

          • Yes I meant subjective, sorry I was tired when I wrote this message!

This is just so weird… I mean it fun to dick around with, but this is so a fake it kinda makes me laugh.

Weird. The password I put in from that roommate game doesn’t work for me. The egg said the password was wh1t3Glove and I put it in but it said it was incorrect. Is that a joke within itself?

The password is used for SegaNet, which you can find in the game’s files. The username is mjstudio. When you’re logged in, you can access stuff in the game that needs SegaNet.

It’s a bunch of fake crap using Unity-imported Sega files. What’s so depressing is that whoever made this could have pulled off much more spectacular stuff, like the near-perfect port of Mario 64 in Unity, than wasting time with this stuff.
It’s a sad joke, if anything.

Jeeze you sure seem to fluctuate between agreeing with if it’s legit or not

@Timmit – You were the one insisting it was “legit”. If you read my original comment you would see clear my concern that it might have a virus embedded in the Unity stack. I was affirming that the software was virus-free. Arcade Kids appears to have used Sega reference files to build the demos, models, etc… but I was not speaking to the legitimacy of those files.
Not sure what the “goal” of this was other than to cause a lot of weirdness.

Considering its gone viral and lets players are playing it I think it’s accomplished its goal.

Why are you so invested into an obvious joke

      • Reply

@LOL – You’re posting in the same thread, so that speaks volumes there. I just think it’s sad someone wasted their time making a joke, when they could have made a real game in the same amount of time. It took real effort to build this – effort that could have gone to a single functional Sonic game or something else.
