There are probably MORE DIRECT ways to make sure it devolves into a criticism of religion than posting evangelical Sonic cartoons. And I'll let you know if I think of any.

No offense to anyone at all (I’m Muslim) but a lot of this made me roll my eyes. Not in a “Christianity is stupid” way, more like a “this is incredibly cheesy” way.
As a kid, I actually drew Sonic running and holding a bible up and it said “read your bible every day” if we had the internet back then I’m pretty sure it would be somewhere on this post lol
But seriously I did it not because I thought Sonic was God or anything, but because I valued my religion as a child, and I was a huge Sonic fan. I couldn’t help but draw Sonic all the time, and I couldn’t help but mix the two concepts. They in no way relate to each other, but I guess it was just my way of showing appreciation of two things I put a lot of value on.
If there is anything I can take away from this it’s that I’m glad there are Christian parents who don’t try to block every non-Christian thing from their kids and, well, I guess I’m not the only one that ever did this hahah
I bet the majority of these are just kids doing this and then posting the results on DA because they don't know any better. Heck, I could see myself doing this if I'd had unlimited internet access as a ten year old.
That one with Tails and Cream was cute… Still, I’m WTF’ing really hard. I’ve been baptized in a christian church (I guess?) but I don’t know sh- cr- *AHEM* much about the religion itself. (Aside from the obvious things, like the holidays you get gifts or chocolate eggs, and stuff.)

I’ll give the first one credit for quoting Nahum. Not even my pastor does that. The second one was pretty cute, but I wasn’t impressed by anything beyond that.
Why do Sonic fan art have to be so…random? Some of these were just horrible. I think everyone agrees the shadow and chao one is the worst. 1 and 15 are the only ones here i like.
Honestly, some of these aren’t bad. I’m not a religious person myself, but – disregarding the fact that Christianity doesn’t seem to have a place in the Sonic world – it’s not unbelievable to imagine that one or two characters might put their faith in a higher power in order to cope with things.
(e.g. Danbuster’s piece about Shadow kneeling at the cross – which, granted, I might be biased towards since Dan’s a good friend of mine, but still — it’s definitely one of the better overall drawings among the lot)
Tails being depicted as Baby Jesus however…
…. actually, giving it more thought, even THAT makes a vague amount of sense, given his constant resurrection in Sonic 2.
Why bring religion to a video-game website? I can’t see how this adds to the site in any way. The pictures aren’t even artistically impressive. It would seem that they have been added based on the poster’s mischievous sense of humour.

I'm sorry, I can't help it: Do you figure that most of these 'artists' still live with their parents? Do you figure that they probably have no in-depth history knowledge to their names? They almost definitely have no opinion on politics, on contemporary issues, on other religions. Do you figure that they were brought to churches every week by their parents? Do you think that these kids really have any solidly formed opinions on their religion? That they have read their holy book cover to cover, analyzed passages, or even know exactly who the author(s) is/are? I don't think they love what they did. I think they do what they know, and there's a different. That's why this bothers me. Sorry.
Actually, I know at least a couple of the artists who made the imagery here read Retro, and I would be fascinated to hear their motivations and why they make this specific type of art--not necessarily in a judgmental way, but in a way to try to understand. I LOVE the well drawn ones. To me, the pictures make some what sence. Sonic is an animal, a creature that KNOWS it was created by God. On the other hand, he is an animal, and has no soul. None the less, good fan art, with good reason.
I don’t think it’s really appropriate depicting Sonic characters involved with Christian themes, but these are most likely kids’ drawings or the drawings of plain weirdos. I’m a Christian and even I think these are stupid. But may I ask was the intent of showing these purely to highlight the ‘weirdos’ or is it some desperate attack on Christianity?
WOW. I myself am a Christian, but I still find this stupid. This is a concept that should never happen!
Some were nicely drawn, but they didn’t mean much. I’m pretty sure this would never be something to encourage a person in his faith with, much less an evangelical tool (Which it probably wasn’t meant to be).
Whoever made “God Made Us Special” Either couldn’t afford Photoshop or a decent art program… or is agnostic.
I don’t rag on anyone because of their beliefs, but while some of the artwork bobs and weaves per picture… it doesn’t seem necessary to do religious Sonic-related art.

I LOVE the well drawn ones. To me, the pictures make some what sence. Sonic is an animal, a creature that KNOWS it was created by God. On the other hand, he is an animal, and has no soul. None the less, good fan art, with good reason.

I sincerely see no reason to regard this as something stupid, that is if the owners of this post intended to do so.
there are cartoon characters that have been used as a way to send the christian message.
please let us not jump into the anti-christian bandwagon and attempt to ridicule the people who did this stuff.
I would not do something like this because I do understand that the character was not created for evangelistic purposes.
But hey, it’s their choice, and look, some of them are actually really well done (some, not all).
And just for the record, I can name a few famous characters who are christian themselves. Spider-Man, Superman and even DareDevil are among them.

I don’t think it’s really appropriate depicting Sonic characters involved with Christian themes, but these are most likely kids’ drawings or the drawings of plain weirdos. I’m a Christian and even I think these are stupid. But may I ask was the intent of showing these purely to highlight the ‘weirdos’ or is it some desperate attack on Christianity?

WOW. I myself am a Christian, but I still find this stupid. This is a concept that should never happen!
Some were nicely drawn, but they didn’t mean much. I’m pretty sure this would never be something to encourage a person in his faith with, much less an evangelical tool (Which it probably wasn’t meant to be).
Whoever made “God Made Us Special” Either couldn’t afford Photoshop or a decent art program… or is agnostic.

I don’t rag on anyone because of their beliefs, but while some of the artwork bobs and weaves per picture… it doesn’t seem necessary to do religious Sonic-related art.
