Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Wii U Gameplay

Games Radar has uploaded a video showing the Wii U version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. The video keeps up with the tradition that 90% of all people playing Sonic demos on camera suck. The course shown in the video is a new Seaside Hill track, a location which already had three courses in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing.

The player notes some issues with the version like that looking at the screen on the Wii U Gamepad is distracting and more importantly, that the framerate has trouble keeping up it at 30fps. Of course this is a work-in-progress build, so this will probably be fixed in the final version. (hopefully) The Wii U version will be available on the launch of the Wii U, which is November 18th in the US and November 30th in Europe.

    It’s two months to release, so the game’s most likely already released to manufacturing. There’s probably no chance of this being fixed, unless they release an update later on. (I don’t know what Nintendo’s policies regarding updating games are, and the only game I know of that Nintendo’s updated using a downloadable hotfix is Mario Kart 7 on 3DS.)

    Looks pretty good. Gotta love the map, but it probably would have made much more sense if it was showing the entire map, instead of the rest of the map appearing as you race along.

    The graphics also seem to be pretty clean too, but that Framerate isn’t all too nice. The Wii version of the original game ran below 60 frames very often. I don’t even think it ran at 60 frames at any time. Hopefully this time around, it won’t be the same thing.

    Looks nice but the frame rate better get fixed, I’m not very keen on the items in this game but I’m loving the transformation concept, looks like fun!

    @ AKR98: I hope this one can switch between both. If this zoomed-in map is like the zoomed-in map in Mario Kart DS, you’d have not only the track map, but also an early-warning radar system.

    Is there actually a 7th generation game without framerate drops? I literally cannot think of one. Also:

    SEASIDE GOD**** HILL AAAAAARRGH.
    There are at least 150 levels in the Sonic– and I can’t stress this enough– Sonic franchise, and about 20 of those levels have the words “speed”, “highway”, “velocity”, “street”, “city”, “route”, and “rush” in them.

    How do you only find 4 levels from 2 games to put in your kart racer TWICE!? The very same levels, no less!? Bingo Highway is the only one that fits the name criteria, and it’s glitchy as crap in all of its appearances!
