The first trailer of Disney’s homage to classic videogames ‘Wreck-It Ralph‘ has been released. We’ve already known Eggman would make an appearance in this movie and he can now be seen in this trailer sitting in a support group for video game villains in the trailer, but it turns out other Sega baddies appear in the same scene as well.
Cyril from The House of the Dead can be seen responding to Zangief from the Street Fighter franchise. And as pointed out by KOG on NeoGAF, the purple rhino is the evil demon god, Neff, from Altered Beast. There’s also some speculation that the yellow robot could be from Cyborg Justice.
The film will be released on November 2nd, 2012.

Leave a CommentMind you, Mike Pollock already said on twitter that Robotnik only speaks as part of a crowd in one line, an he doesn’t voice it.

Dr. Wily isn’t there anymore, guess that Capcom really isn’t caring about Mega Man anymore….

If these are supposed to be Arcade games then whats Eggman doing there, i don’t recall him being an Arcade Character.

Sonic's had multiple arcade games, most notably SegaSonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Fighters, both had Dr. Eggman in them.

Aw, no more Wily. So, how long until someone questions Bowser’s appearance? Someone’s questioned Robotnik already, even though it should be common knowledge that they’ve both been in arcade games.

honestly i've seen SMB 1 in an arcade so he would fit in that crowd.

The modern Eggman design hasn’t been in any real arcades guessing this was mandate by Sega I think they’re even using the same CG model from the recent games, notice how the Pacman ghost is in his classic form instead of this abomination which Namco promotes as the modern design of the character

I find the implied reluctance of Sega and Sonic Team to use the classic designs in anything other than Generations and merchandise rather fascinating.

I don’t care what version of Eggman they use because it’s still Eggman, and as for the movie itself, I will say this I lost interest in a lot of Disney’s stuff over the years but as a gamer I might actually consider taking a look at this movie.

I love how everybody’s arguing on who appeared on arcade and why use modern and not classic designs, WHO THE FUCK CARES?! Eggman’s in a Disney movie for God’s sake, this only proves that Sonic is still an iconic video game character, now let’s hope the heroes make an appearance in the movie somehow!

Am I crazy to think that little girl is some sort of reference to Zool? A candy land, green, hanging around like a ninja, annoying (product placement)…probably reading too much into it.

Sweet! First a Madagascar 3, and now a trailer for a movie based on various video games!

I gotta go see this movie, if only to help Disney pay for all of those flipping licenses.

Okay, I have a theory as to why they used Clyde’s classic design, and yet used Eggman’s modern design. They are the designs that people are most familiar with. Clyde’s modern design is fairly recent and hasn’t been used enough to be easily recognized, while his older design is the most used and is more iconic. Eggman’s redesign, on the other hand, is generally more recognizable than his older design, especially to younger/newer gamers.

Am I the only one irked about the whole “Zangief is evil” thing?
I guess I’m just being picky, really…

Well Zangief was a anatagonist in Street Fighter II V but I assume Disney doesn't know that or wouldn't count events in anime.

Well, hopefully the movie is different than the trailer advertised. From this, though, it looks like it’s going to be pretty terrible.
