A list with games that are coming to Xbox Live Arcade popped up on the popular gaming forum NeoGAF yesterday. While it contains games that were already announced such as Battleblock Theater and Sonic 4 Episode II, a bunch of unannounced games are included as well. Among these is Sonic Adventure 2, a game either fondly or not so fondly remembered by Sonic fans. This was posted by a forum member with only 8 posts with no information on where it came from though. Besides that, it also includes cancelled games like Bonk: Brink of Extinction and Saints Row Moneyshot, so there’s barely any credibility to this.
Or at least there wasn’t until Harmonix (the developer behind the Rock Band franchise) revealed Rock Band Blitz later on the same day, a game included on the very same list. Meaning there’s actually a possibility that the it is real and that Sonic Adventure 2 may be coming to XBLA, or was at least once in development. Other unannounced SEGA titles that may be coming to Xbox Live are more Vintage Collections with Golden Axe and Streets of Rage. The full list can be found after the jump.

Leave a CommentI hated Adventure 2. I thought it was nearly as bad as 06.

Same here. It's boring as heck.
If anything, this rumor at least got me hyped for Battleblock Theatre, now I know what I'll be spending my money on, instead of S4:2

“not so fondly remembered”… that game was epic. If you’re a Sonic fan, SA2 was one of the only really good 3D games (other than Sonic Adventure and, IMO, Sonic Heroes). If someone can not like this game but like Sonic ’06… then that person’s got a major problem.

Good thing I dislike both of them.

Just X-box? Really?
But it would make sense for there to be a SA2 re-release soon, consodering the only real way to play it now is via Wii gamecube player, and with WiiU being released this year it will Be even harder to get your hands on.

I'm sure it'll be released on PSN and Steam as well, it's just that we've only heard about an Xbox 360 version so far.

I don’t believe it’s plausible. SA1 was plausible because it had already been graphically updated and ported to the PC in Microsoft’s home territory, SA2 wasn’t. I’d love all these titles to be released like Bonk, but it’s not plausible.

So than how are they porting Jet Set Radio? :P

Wait didn’t Bonk: Brink of Extinction get cancelled when Hudson closed its US branch’s doors?

For a minute there I thought the last game was Zombie Revenge. I was about to get TOO happy.

Since this is coming to XBLA does that mean it will come to PSN?
Comment left on 4.4.2012 by burgermike92
Hmm… guess I won’t have to keep emulating if this is true AND comes to PSN, which if true, will happen.

Hope it includes the Chao Garden and everything.

Hopefully it comes to XBLA and PSN because I never experienced this game and can’t fin it anywhere.

It would be nice to see it in HD but without a doubt SEGA will just do a shoddy port in 4:3 and release the GC extras seperately.
I’ve never really liked SA2 (*cough* overrated *cough*) though, so I’ll probably only buy it for nostalgia purposes if I bother to.
Comment left on 4.4.2012 by Psychic Hedgehog
While I can see them releasing the GC extras as DLC that costs too much, the upcoming Jet Set Radio port will be 16:9, and considering there's no PC version they can shoddily port with SA2 there's no reason why it should be 4:3.

I fortold this a long time ago,now it has come true…Why? I never liked SA2, it’s not an adventure game but an action game…Why not better just give us DLC for Generations?

Best 3d title in the series, hands down. Freedom of movement, smooth gameplay, music was mad beast, especially knuckles jazz/hip hop. You have to be square to “hate” it.

The Adventure games have all sucked to be honest. I convinced myself I liked them when I had the games on my Dreamcast but going back to them is almost painful. Glitchy gameplay- loads of rubbish characters including the introduction of Shadow (the lamest, laziest character design ever), some horrid, cheesy pop rock music, stupid Chao racing nonsense. Yuck. Generations is a step in the right direction but none of the 3D games come close to the original Megadrive/Genesis games or Sonic CD.

If this doesn’t have online multiplayer I will be so pissed at SEGA. It would be perfect – doing the normal multiplayer with your Xbox Live friends, as well as Kart Racing and Chao Karate and Chao Races.

@flame6753: Apparently, there’s a lot of squares here. I’m more of a triangle, really.

Was only a matter of time. However, it hasn’t aged as well as SA1 at all.

I’m actually more excited to see Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure HD on this list than anything else. If Capcom actually starting porting over their Dreamcast games at a steady rate…well, hopefully Power Stone isn’t too far behind.
Not that I don’t like Jojo; I’ll get it too.

I'd kill for a remake of Powerstone 2...

Why is this game Incredibly Overrated?
Comment left on 4.4.2012 by StayFrosty
Loved Sonic Adventure 2: Battle on GC. That was my favorite Sonic game before Generations was released. Hope the rumors are true, and i also hop that it’s in HD, as it being one of the big milestones for Sega and it introduced Shadow (although I’m not a fan of him unless it’s in SA2:B). I prefer it over SA1 any day. SA1′s gameplay style always made me shiver a bit, especially the way their mouth’s moved.

Jesus Christ what’s with all the hate. This game is NOT as bad as Sonic 06. No comparison. Sonic 06 was 10 x the bugs as SA2.
Comment left on 4.4.2012 by evilmonkeyman289
seriously, while SA2 hasn’t aged very well it’s certainly aged better then the original sonic adventure but seriously comparing it to Sonic 06? at least you can fucking play SA2
Comment left on 4.5.2012 by hurricane128
Even that's questionable at times.
Reply left on 4.5.2012 by GeneHF
If SA2 does come out on XBLA, then it better come out on Steam too. And I’m sure PS3 owners will be pissed if it dosent come out on PSN.

I thought Sonic Adventure was sweet, especially for its great framerate(I got it for 360). This is definitely gonna be a great buy.

Sonic adventure 2 WAS the best sonic game after the 2D sonic games so I have REALLY been looking forward to this since the release of Sonic Adventure on XBLA XD

Haters of the 3D sonic games will ALWAYS hate this and other Sonic 3D games. And that’s a fact.
But for the other fans out there, that like BOTH the 2D AND 3D titles, and have the capacity of seeing the best (and worst) of each of the games, this re-release of Sonic Adventure 2 will be very cool.
Yes, we all know the game has bugs (every game has), but that’s doesn’t make it BAD as hell…
You want bad has HELL? Sonic 2006 is that. The only thing that you can grab off the game is the graphics and PERHAPS the soundtrack. The rest is rubish…
I’m also one of those that thinks SA2 is better than SA1. Let’s admit: SA1 has SO MUCH more bugs, the gameplay is NOT that good, and I’m not gonna even talk about the voice-acting nor the mouth moving of the characters. But STILL: Check the sales: it’s the dreamcast game tat sold MORE COPIES worldwide. Meaning: people like sh*t?? I dunno… Perhaps…
Anyways, that’s not the point. Point is: SA2 is not that bad. I refrase: Yes, it HAS bugs. But Infact it’s a good game to play. Comparing to all the others: this is probably the best 3D game os the 128 bit era.
BTW: For those Sonic Heroes haters (like I was): I played ALL the versions of the game. The worst version is the PS2 version. I hated the game FOR YEARS before playing the other versions. If you play the GameCube version, the game is WAY better there. I’m not defending the game, just pointing facts. =)
Stay cool all, and I’ll be waiting for this game to get my hands on it!
