Sonic Generations Soundtrack Announced, No Details Given

So it’s pretty much accepted that the soundtrack to Sonic Generations is awesome. Of course, unless you just sit in front of your television watching the game (or enjoy the music through other means), there hasn’t been a way to enjoy the music on its own. Even in some of his worst showings, Sonic has always been about the music, and yet much hasn’t been said about an official release.

Without much fanfare, SONIC GENERATIONS Original Soundtrack: Blue Blur has been officially announced on amazon.co.jp. Slated to be released on January 11th, 2012, the three-CD set looks to be the final hurrah for the 20th anniversary celebrations. Aside from that info, there hasn’t been anything else said about what the release will contain. No track listing, no number of songs, nothing about anything extra. All we know is that it will exist, which is enough for now. Hopefully, nothing will be missing on the track listing, since I know some people have been afraid it might not even come out since the DREAMS COME TRUE tracks are still owned by Masato Nakamura. Either way, it should prove to be exciting, if only so you can slide in a CD to impress your friends while you’re driving down the highway, unable to resist the urge to jam to Chemical Plant.

The set will retail for ¥ 4,200. No word on a western release just yet.

Nice! Preordered. Cannot wait for classic City Escape while driving to work.

Hopefully it’ll have every single piece of music on those three CDs.

Then if this is the last item we’ll see…. so much for having a Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles soundtrack similar to the “Sonic the Hedgehog 1&2 Soundtrack” we had released in October…. SADFACE!

I don’t get it. If the Sonic Generations soundtrack is going to be released in January 2012, then what the heck is the soundtrack that comes with the collectors edition?

The CD was just a Best Of type deal, similar to the one that came with the Sonic Adventure 2 Collector’s Edition back in 2001. The track listing for that album was put up on the front page a bit ago right here. It also happens to be the same as the two discs that come with preorders of the game in Japan. Funny how that works.

I could imagine lite ing to speed highway while driving down a motorway at night would be EPIC. and also dangerous, as the urge to drive at full speed and drive over construction works as if thu were ramps would be imence.

Will I be able to order this in the US? Or will it be Japan-only like all the other Sonic soundtracks?

add another to the list. 1&2 soundtrack, Sonic CD and now this. All they need to do is negotiate with Spencer to reissue STH Boom and all the important material is covered.

I really wish they’d get permission from Crush 40 and Cash Cash to get a studio version of Sonic Boom for the album… 🙁

Someone please tell me what’s going on with the site and its treatment to IE9 because I can’t reply to anyone for some reason.
On topic, I think they hid the details because the 3DS version isn’t out yet.
