Mario and Sonic Visit Some Familiar Places

If you played Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, you may remember the dream events. If you didn’t, they were basically the normal Olympic events mixed up and put in stages from various Mario and Sonic games. For example, there was one where you snowboard through Radical Highway. These events return in Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, with events taking place in Sonic levels like Windy Valley or BINGO Highway and levels themed after Mario games like Super Mario Galaxy. You can see them in action in the new trailer below:

The game is out now for Wii and a 3DS version will be released early next year.

I’m beginning to think that people don’t care about the actual London games–they just want the Dream events. Maybe they should skip the Olympic theme, keep the Dream events, and call it “Mario and Sonic Party” or something like that. I think that would be pretty cool.

The dream events have always been the best. I only played the first M&S at the Olympics and those are the ones I really remember having fun with.

They should just make ‘Mario and Sonic: Shuffle Party’ already.

HOLY SHIT IS THAT THE CITY FROM THE OPENING OF SONIC SHUFFLE

Nope. It’s just Grand Metropolis from Heroes. The music is confirmed in the game.

Ditto what Jaeger said. The only reason I’d get this game would be for the dream events. The rest of the Olympic games actually sound mind-numbingly boring. But the dream events…ahh, not only do they look entertaining, but there’s also the nostalga factor for both Sonic and Mario fans alike. 🙂 So they totally should build a game that just focuses on the dream events.

I got this game 3 days ago and been playing it ever since, it’s really nice and I mostly liked the Dream Events, and Synchronized Swimming was so much fun!

Is that…Midas River at 0:42 with Thwomps added in? I mean the barrels and the coins and all. That’s pretty sick if they actually put in a SMRPG throwback!

I guess the game’s worth it just for the Dream Events, then, hmm? 😀

I love the horse riding dream event, so much love for the detail.
=) And every character has its own horse. Good work SEGA!
