Sonic Announcements Coming Thursday; Sega Quietly Registers Sonic Generations

The last time we heard anything from Sega about 20th Anniversary related dealings for Sonic, we got  an allusion to the philosophical poem “The Hedgehog and The Fox”.

Now by way of social media networks Facebook and Twitter, we get two separate events that clearly coincide.

Yesterday, it was reported via the Twitter account @supererogatory that Sega registered two domain names in “sonicgenerations.com” and “sonic-generations.com”. What’s noteworthy about this? Aside from being registered by EuroDNS, which also handled the domain registrations for Sonic The Hedgehog 4 and Sonic Colors, it could be a hint at either the rumored Sonic game with remakes of classic levels “in a modern style” or yet another hodgepodge of games on a disc.

If that wasn’t enough, Sega updated their Sonic The Hedgehog fanpage on Facebook with a hint to visit the page on April 7, where they plan to kick off celebrations early.

You heard it here last, but we’ll definitely keep you up to date come Thursday.

In before they say Sonic Generations is a super cool collection of every Sonic game and overprice it, and then overhype a new game where Sonic can’t spindash, is forced to use homing attack because if you jump attack into an enemy it hurts Sonic, can’t go backwards in a level to explore, and can slide around entire levels to be uneffected to enemy attacks. A game which grades you on how much you use some new gimmick they will pull out of nowhere instead of how fast you went or how many enemies you defeated, or how many rings you collected. I’ve been through this too many times to be excited anymore. I will go play Sonic 3 & Knuckles on my Genesis now, thanks Sega. Please, PLEASE prove me wrong.

Uh, I think alot of people are missing the point. This game is going to be 3D, UNLIKE Sonic 4.

They should grade you on average velocity, but the kiddies would find that frustrating

Maybe a cool sonic game for the 3DS will be revealed.
If you believe that, there’s a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to sell you….

I’ll be ok with the reveal…as long as it’s a good game and it’s for 360 or Wii.
