New Sonic Voice Actors Announced!

So the Internet’s worst kept secret is finally out – the Sonic the Hedgehog game series has gone through yet another voice recasting. Gone are the docile tones of Jason Griffith and Amy Palant as Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles “Tails” Prower. So just who is going to voice the most famous hedgehog in the world?
Meet Roger Craig Smith. His previous voice work includes Chris Redfield in Resident Evil 5 and Ezio Auditore da Firenze in Assassin’s Creed 2. He has also done work for SEGA in the past, including a variety of voice in Valkyria Chronicles.
Additionally, everyone’s favorite two-tailed fox will now be voiced by Kate Higgins, whose most prolific role to date has been Naruto’s Sakura Haruno. Hopefully her work on that show has prepared her for rabid fanbases.
Oh, and Dr. Eggman? He’s still being voiced by Mike Pollock.
Is this franchise-changing news? Maybe not. Is it bound to cause thousands of posts comparing Ryan, Jason, and Roger? Most definitely. While SEGA has confirmed that the rest of the cast has gone through a similar voice-lift, they’re keeping quiet over the identities of these new actors. All we here at Sonic Retro can do is wish them luck, and hope they realize just what they’ve gotten themselves into.

Adriana says: I’m really happy they are finally changing them, I hated the entire English voice acting cast lol. Especially Jason with his bad voice acting and horrid laughing with occasional snorts here and there. Hopefully this new group can pull it off more professional and be more in character and sound like how the characters would sound. I really liked the original English cast I was pretty pissed when they changed them to the Sonic X cast, I do have to say Jason was okay with Shadow’s voice though.
When it came to watching Sonic X or playing the newer Sonic games it was either in Japanese or nothing because I hated English Sonic X because of the voices and the editing issues. The games are just annoying I wanna mute the tv type annoying with the English group. So I’m jumping in my chair excited and happy about the change about fing time!

I totally agree, I feel drummond should get the role back because of the unforgivable way in which he was let go, and hes my voice acting hero, and i feel he stays true to junichi, But im pleased that sega are making an effort. Im sure the change will b refreshing.
Grace says: I’m glad they changed the voice cast. I was jumping up and down walls. So excited that I was squeaking and quealing when I heard this . Most people dislike the old cast, they never seemed to be intrested in there work. Lets wait and see Roger’s preformance playing as the fastest hedgehog alive.

That may be true but its a step up from hearing constant snorting, horrid laughing and really bad voice acting that makes you want to mute the TV every cutscene. It looks like Sega is trying to make Sonic right again, theres a lot of games coming out this year that actually look good, and now a more professional voice acting cast, people should be really happy! I know I am.

Every voice actor is going to be changed except Dr. Eggman. I like her Japanese voice better, I thought her English voice was annoying.

the new sonic voice actors suck ass they are the poorest and espiacially sonics amys shadow rouges storms waves tails and jet they all suck they sound like they were voices from voice overs in vids they suck the guy in sonic revenge and sonic murder can do better then this at least its only for this year whooo!
