:] Looks cool, I can’t wait for this game to come out, unlike most people I have hope for this game. The only thing weird is the Zone Select. Do you think that is normal…or is that like the level select cheat from the original Genesis/Mega Drive games?
its sorta a rehash i mean lost labryth zone and casino street zone and splash hill theyre inspire by sonic 2 and sonic 1 but its still cool and i cant wait download
I just read that on /v/ .. looks kinda cool, I guess .. it’s still Sega trying to get back to their old ways and I just appreciate that they’re doing so. Of course you can’t really judge the alpha/beta, although I noticed some new menu music (after you see Loading Game Data). I like that.
Really not great at Sonic. I think I saw Sonic at full speed for about half a second.
I liked everything I saw though! More platform elements and the music is nice, from what I could hear.
Sonic waggling his finger in the intro looked a bit off, though.
oh no. thet demented star is back! HIDE ME! other than that, looks good. good redesigns, a little glitchy, but this is early. even homing attack looks kind of smooth. i liking this so far!
Also, I think the player was trying to show off that gravity is actually present here. Sonic won’t just run up a slope like in the newer games. He actually needs momentum.
I will agree with some of you that it does look a little floaty at times though.
Looks both good and bad… Good because it’s the biggest step in the right direction Sega has ever taken. Bad because this looks like Sonic Advance with better graphics. Even elements like those giant balls in Lost Labyrinth are pulled right from Sonic Advance.
I doubt we’ll see the stage progression that was a hallmark of S3&K (every Act had a makeover, and every Zone spun into the next through a transition). I also doubt we’ll see the proper physics that made the first games so enjoyable. The game honestly looks more like Sonic 1 than Sonic 2 or 3.
I’m conflicted, because the move to 2D is definitely the right move for the company to make. On the other hand, I just don’t envision this being as fun as I want it to be.
Why does Sega want to hide the running sequence? It’s not like they could make it look any different. But either way, it’s nice to see it’s coming alone well. Of course we all need to remember this is probably an alpha build, so it’s a definet work in progress.
Result:I came. The physics need a lil work as on the hills, i don’t think he should stick to the hills more like he slides back down when he misses his mark. But hell, this is an alpha/beta so nobody can expect the best but i cant find too much to complain about like a lot of the community has, but hey! looks very promising! Keep up the good work, Sega/Sonic Team & Dimps, and keep that blue blur rolling! -Alex
Of course the game still needs more work to it…. >.>
And by the way, the game seems way faster than the Genesis version. It’s going to be a good game… It just… better have more than 4 stages. Anyone who’s complaining is being waay too picky.
All the sonic stages have been inspired from the older games. Except maybe Sandopolis Zone… Marble Garden is obviously inspired from Marble Zone.
Sega and Dimps are picking up sonic’s old running ground good for them i wonder will the capsule with animals return. And will eggman surprise sonic like he did in S3&K with the bomb ship and waterfall boss. Looks great keep up the good work.
All i know is i see theres 7 emeralds…Super Sonic BETTER be playable IN game play and not at the end of the game…i miss that lol…i see theres some glitches but i know it’ll be fixed its in beta so im not shocked =)…with that said, kudos to Sonic Team for giving back
I luv how the story is a continuation from Sonic 3 all those years ago! Thats awesome and im looking forward to seeing what “Dr. Robotnic” (Not Eggman Ugh!) has got up his sleeves. Its a Beta version but I agree the floating jump looks a lil off but graphically it looks amazing and sonics speed will be alot faster than in the old games I reckon. Need to buy an XBOX before this comes out.
from the looks of stage select and the gamplay i think it will be a great game and i already know that they are putting some old eneimes in it and thats a plus but sega sould really learn how to make a good sonic game instead of having someone else do it for them.

Mad Gear? Didn’t Capcom already use that one?

I think they need to fix his jump to make it a little bit faster but if they just SPEED things up a BIT more I think it could be a good game.

Also, Sonic peel out.

i think the reason the player was horrible was to keep running animation secret. he did an ok job, but at 1:03 if u pause just right u can see it.

Never mind you already see it on the SEGA screen.

It looks great, but I’m not that happy that Dimps is the developer. The Sonic Team need to learn how to make a 2D Sonic game themselves.

Uh… how about the next bunch of zones will appear… you know… in Episode 2?

I find awful the sluggish way Sonic roles when he jumps. Where’s the dynamism gone ?!
Couldn’t SEGA fucking stick to high-def 2D ?

Glad to see one of the first play testers for Sonic 4 is a kid. I’m not sure whether to palm my face to a pulp or die laughing.
