Back in the day, Sonic was quite a force, and you could find his name on practically anything. Those days are gone now, but it’s always interesting to look at what was there.

Some of these foods can still be found, although the non-candy ones are likely inedible now.

The pasta is the longest lived item, spanning the old Sonic to the one we see today. A rather plain tomato-based sauce was on it, and it wasn’t really the best pasta, but was fine for a quick lunch. There were many different offers related to it, and it can be considered the quintessential food item; when it ended, it was pretty much over for all the Sonic food items.

The gum… the gum. It came in these weird cases and had weird card-shaped pieces of highly dusted gum. It tasted sorta good, but had not so much flavor. It came with weird cards I wish I had saved… it was interesting, for sure. These cards could be worth something today.

Want to know more about these items? Just go to Sonic Gear’s US Food page for more info; they have pretty much all of the items.

Know an item not on that page? Post it in the comments!

I always used to get those Sonic Spaghetti-O’s. I remember seeing Sonic change on the cover later on, too. It’s kind of funny to see them again now. XD

I remember those! They still sell sonic X-treme ice cream where I live. They’re sold from Blue Bunny ice cream trucks with horrible broken-record-sounding music

Here’s the gum cases and cards I have:

The Nintendo cards came from a green Gameboy shaped gum case. Not sure if I still have that hidden somewhere, but I keep those cards in the pink Genesis controller case.

Here is Australia we had a completely different Sonic ice-cream. It was basically a rainbow-swirl Paddle Pop with a really sweet hard-candy shell over the top half. Mixed into the shell though were those things that were marketed in the USA as Pop Rocks (I think that’s what they were called).

We also had a promotion going on for near a year where you bought a four-litre paint tin which contained two mega drive games and two 250 gram packets of sweet, spongy lollies that were in the shape of Sonic. The games in this deal were Sonic 2, Street Fighter 2, Aladdin, Lion King, The Little Mermaid and one other which for the life of me I can’t remember off the top of my head.

I remember the Spaghetti-Os! They were my favorite food. Then they added Sonic to them… 100% win.

I used to eat the Sonic branded Spaghetti-Os at least once a week when I was a kid. =)

And I had the gum, too!

A good blast from the past.
